A snap, a hold, and a kick. On the heels of a touchdown, it’s sometimes easy as a fan to pay little attention to the extra point. But we shouldn’t forget that it requires a precise, synchronized execution among multiple players. Or that an extra point can ultimately be the difference between winning and losing. In that way, we like to think of CPC Co. as your extra point, connecting you with the right solutions from the best manufacturers and going above and beyond to serve you better. Automatic. Every time.
This Chatter’s opening drive covers 75 years of American ingenuity in thermoplastic pump design and development. That’s followed by a display of sound defense from the leading global provider of screening solutions. And in the red zone, when the heat is on, we put it in the hands of the latest industrial plate heat exchangers.
Let’s kickoff this Chatter …
Manufacturer of the Month
Since 1949 VANTON PUMP & EQUIPMENT CORPORATION under the leadership of its founder, Gerry Lewis, pioneered the development of engineered thermoplastic pumps in the U.S. and around the globe. When it comes to handling corrosive, abrasive, hazardous and ultrapure fluids, Vanton thermoplastic pumps set the standard.
Whether your needs call for a seal-less, self-priming Flex-I-Liner® rotary pump, a horizontal Chem-Gard® centrifugal pump, a Sump-Gard® vertical centrifugal pump, or an integrated engineered Pump/Tank System, they’re all backed with three quarters of a century of innovative problem-solving expertise.
Today, Larry Lewis, the second generation of the founding family oversees every aspect of Vanton’s entire line of thermoplastic pumps designed to meet the needs of globally diverse industries wherever a broad range of chemical resistance is required.
The chemical inertness of thermoplastics ensures purity when handling ultrapure water and other fluids required by manufacturers, fabricators, utilities and industries where contamination cannot be tolerated. Vanton thermoplastic pumps provide a broader range of chemical resistance over stainless steel and expensive exotic alloys where corrosion and abrasion issues frequently occur. And, thermoplastics eliminate the problematic issues of wicking, absorption and abrasion that are related to FRP materials as well as the porosity and delamination associated with lined metal pumps. It’s why with Vanton thermoplastic pumps you can transfer process fluids or waste streams of mixed or unknown chemicals without fear of corrosion or contamination.
With over 265,000 pumps deployed around the world, Vanton is backed up by its world-class team of highly skilled representatives. And, coupled with its knowledgeable in-house team of engineers overseeing the performance testing of every pump manufactured, you are assured of always receiving the optimal pump for your specific needs.
The Cutting Edge
JOHNSON SCREENS, a brand of Aqseptence Group, is the leading global provider of screening and auxiliary solutions. Their highly engineered and precisely fabricated products and solutions support various municipal applications and industries, including Water Wells, Environmental, Energy, Chemicals, Food and Beverage, Mining, and many more. As the original creators of the Vee-Wire® screens, Johnson’s innovative solutions incorporate 120 years of knowledge of the processes where they are used, and a tradition of excellent customer support.
Johnson Screens GreenFil™ activated filtration media is an inert, amorphous aluminosilicate (glass) manufactured by up-cycling post-consumer green and brown glass bottles. GreenFil is verified to at least double the performance of sand filters without the need for additional investments in infrastructure. It inhibits bacteria growth, eliminates clumping, channelling, and passage of unfiltered water while reducing backwash water by up to 50%, and providing predictable, repeatable, and consistent nominal filtration performance over the course of a 10-year-minimum life cycle.
The Triton™ Underdrain System offers maximum surface area to optimize filtration efficiency with minimal headloss and backwash pump power consumption. With a large open area, low headloss, U-shape channel rods and Vee-Wire filtering media support profiles, the Triton Underdrain offers fine slots to suit any filter media specification. Its unique bi-directional flow design provides improved bed fluidization, resulting in better media cleaning. This in turn provides longer filter runs and better water recovery due to lower water requirements for backwash. The Triton™ underdrain system is available in stainless steel and PVC and is easier to install than other underdrain designs.
With a history of 50+ years and over 4,000 installations, Johnson Screens continues to lead the way in static intake screening equipment. The latest, Max-Flow™ Passive Intakes, were created with efficiency in mind. Fully 316b compliant, the patented design evenly distributes flow and reduces the velocity to 0.5 feet per second or less. Its non-plugging design is easy to maintain using Johnson Screens’ patented Hydroburst screen cleaning system. With 1.4 times more capacity than the previous high-capacity design, it offers significant capital savings in any intake project using fewer intake screens. The Max-Flow is available in all materials, including stainless steel, super duplex, and NSF-certified Z-Alloy

ALFA LAVAL has raised the bar once again when it comes to producing reliable, serviceable, and energy efficient heat exchanger technology for their customers. Alfa Laval’s development team has been hard at work, questing every aspect of their designs in search of improvement. The results are bold, including innovative new features and technical concepts that have not been seen before.
The TS45 is the world’s most modern gasket plate heat exchanger. Every inch of its design is intentionally created with flexibility and performance in mind. This means that it is the most versatile of its kind on the market and can benefit virtually any application, especially cooling duties.
These large new plates are packed with innovations to take thermal efficiency to new heights. The first of which is Alfa Laval’s noncircular inlet and outlet OmegaPort. This small design change has significant results. Thanks to an increased thermal surface area it can boost efficiency across the whole plate pack. In some cases, it even means that fewer plates are required per pack without losing out on performance.
With the TS45, Alfa Laval sets a new standard for thermal efficiency in a plate heat exchanger.
Efficient
With plate heat exchangers having significantly higher heat transfer coefficients, they can have a much smaller footprint than competing technology.
Effective
Improved media flow and greater use of the heat transfer surface area allows you to use more energy that would have otherwise gone to waste, reducing fuel consumption as well as related emissions costs.
Accessible
The all-bolted construction of the exchanger allows for easy access for cleaning and maintenance while also having the added benefit of being able to add or remove plates as needed.
