Marching On

Something about hitting the month of March always feels like the year is firmly up to speed and rolling. The fact that spring is on the horizon probably plays into that. Wonder if the verb ‘march’ might factor into it as well? Regardless, always being at the ready to assist and serve you with unmatched equipment and expertise is the tune we march to and how we roll at Charles P. Crowley Company.

Marching ahead, CPC Co. will be taking part at CWWA California-Nevada Section’s Water Conference of the West, April 7-10 in Anaheim, and you can find us at booths 422 and 424. We’ll also be exhibiting at CWEA’s Annual Conference AC25, April 22-25 in Palm Springs, so stop by and see us at booths 424 and 426

Rolling into this month’s Chatter means getting in step with the leading global provider of screening solutions. From there, strike up the band for American ingenuity in thermoplastic pump design and development, before moving things along with active mixing for stored water supplies. Joining the parade is a new Chatter feature, the Crowley Crew.

Bring on the Chatter …

Manufacturer of the Month

JOHNSON SCREENS, a brand of Aqseptence Group, is the leading global provider of screening solutions. Their highly engineered and precisely fabricated products support various municipal applications and industries. As the original creators of the Vee-Wire® screens, Johnson’s solutions incorporate 120 years of knowledge of the processes where they are used, and a tradition of excellent customer support.

Through 50+ years and thousands of installations, Johnson Screens continues to lead the way in static intake screening equipment. The latest, Max-Flow™ Passive Intakes, were created with efficiency in mind. The patented design evenly distributes flow and reduces the velocity to 0.5 feet per second or less. Its non-plugging design is easy to maintain using Johnson Screens’ patented Hydroburst screen cleaning system. With 1.4 times more capacity than the previous high-capacity design, it offers significant capital savings in any intake project using fewer intake screens. Available materials, include stainless steel, super duplex, and NSF-certified Z-Alloy.

Johnson Screens GreenFil™ activated filtration media is an inert, amorphous aluminosilicate (glass) manufactured by up-cycling post-consumer green and brown glass bottles. GreenFil is verified to at least double the performance of sand filters without the need for additional investments in infrastructure. It inhibits bacteria growth, eliminates clumping, channelling, and passage of unfiltered water while reducing backwash water by up to 50%, and providing predictable, repeatable, and consistent nominal filtration performance over the course of a 10-year-minimum life cycle.

The Triton™ Underdrain System offers maximum surface area to optimize filtration efficiency with minimal headloss and backwash pump power consumption. With a large open area, low headloss, U-shape channel rods and Vee-Wire filtering media support profiles, the Triton Underdrain offers fine slots to suit any filter media specification. Its unique bi-directional flow design provides improved bed fluidization, resulting in better media cleaning. This in turn provides longer filter runs and better water recovery due to lower water requirements for backwash. The Triton™ underdrain system is available in stainless steel and PVC and is easier to install than other underdrain designs.

The Cutting Edge

Since 1949 VANTON PUMP & EQUIPMENT CORPORATION under the leadership of its founder, Gerry Lewis, pioneered the development of engineered thermoplastic pumps in the U.S. and around the globe. When it comes to handling corrosive, abrasive, hazardous and ultrapure fluids, Vanton thermoplastic pumps set the standard.

Whether your needs call for a seal-less, self-priming Flex-I-Liner® rotary pump, a horizontal Chem-Gard® centrifugal pump, a Sump-Gard® vertical centrifugal pump, or an integrated engineered Pump/Tank System, they’re all backed with three quarters of a century of innovative problem-solving expertise.

Vanton’s entire line of thermoplastic pumps excel in applications where a broad range of chemical resistance is required.

The chemical inertness of thermoplastics ensures purity when handling ultrapure water and other fluids required by manufacturers, fabricators, utilities and industries where contamination cannot be tolerated. Vanton thermoplastic pumps provide a broader range of chemical resistance over stainless steel and expensive exotic alloys where corrosion and abrasion issues frequently occur. And, thermoplastics eliminate the problematic issues of wicking, absorption and abrasion that are related to FRP materials as well as the porosity and delamination associated with lined metal pumps. It’s why with Vanton thermoplastic pumps you can transfer process fluids or waste streams of mixed or unknown chemicals without fear of corrosion or contamination.

With over 265,000 pumps deployed around the world, Vanton’s knowledgeable in-house team of engineers oversee the performance testing of every pump manufactured. Large or small, with Vanton you are assured of always receiving the optimal pump for your specific needs.

Top Three

Backed by nearly 60 years of water mixing experience, KASCO products are dedicated to improving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in water and wastewater systems. By combining advanced engineering, robust construction, and field-driven innovation, Kasco’s water quality solutions set the industry standard for keeping water in motion.

Kasco’s CertiSafe™ Tank Mixer for potable water is certified and tested to strict NSF/ANSI 61 & NSF/ANSI 372 standards, and is designed for use in drinking water storage tanks and reservoirs 20,000 gallons and larger. This powerful, active tank mixer is fully submersible up to 50 ft. of depth, easy to install, and can be mounted using a floor, suspension or pipe mount.

  • Eliminates thermal stratification and reduces residual loss
  • Eliminates chemical stratification and reduces differences in water taste and odor
  • Reduces nitrification risk in chloraminated water and lowers the rate of disinfection by-product (DBP) as well as sediment accumulation

Control panels for CertiSafe™ are 60Hz, single phase units available in 120V and 240V. UL listed and easy to install, these panels include an H-O-A control switch, indicator LED, and SCADA I/O for remote operation and monitoring. Control panel, unit mounting, and solar options are available separately. Kasco CertiSafe™ Mixers are ETL Listed to UL and CSA standards.
