Let’s face it, you want to be able to spot the crocodile if there’s one around. Fortunately, Charlie Crocodile, our 2025 Crowley Critter, stands out in a crowd. As an added bonus, this crocodile poses no threat whatsoever to life or limb (thanks to being stuffed and having his mouth sewn shut). As you may already know, the Crowley Critter is our limited edition collectable provided to our outstanding (get it?) loyal customers as a token of our appreciation. Every year a new critter joins the pack, and we all get to follow its travels and adventures in photos submitted by its lucky handlers (aka recipients).
Standing out this month is the latest innovation in double suction pumps, followed by a look inside cutting edge industrial plate heat exchangers. To wrap up the visual feast, we’ve got our sights set on instrumentation and visual measurement devices.
Let’s get eyes on this Chatter …
Manufacturer of the Month
ITT GOULDS PUMPS is widely recognized as the premier supplier of quality industrial process pumps. With a proud history spanning 175 years of designing and manufacturing the world’s most reliable centrifugal pumping solutions, Goulds Pumps continues to deliver and build upon its legacy as a leader in the process industries.
Goulds’ latest innovation, the 3430 Large Double Suction Pump line, was designed with extensive customer feedback. Intended to solidify Goulds Pumps as the leader in the industrial double suction market, the 3430 line is a game-changer.
Unmatched Performance
Higher efficiencies and lower NPSH set a new industry standard.
Superior Materials
Ductile Iron casing, 316SS impellers, 316SS shaft sleeves, and Nitronic 60 casing wear rings, just to name a few.
Exceptional Design
One design replaces three legacy products (3409, 3420, 3498), standardizing maintenance activities and maximizing interchangeability.
New i-Frame 360° bearing housing with generous seal area access openings are designed for simple replacement of modern split cartridge seals without removal of the bearing housings.
Versatile casing and shaft design accommodates mechanical seals or packing with just a shaft sleeve change—no machining required.
The Cutting Edge
ALFA LAVAL has raised the bar once again when it comes to producing reliable, serviceable, and energy efficient heat exchanger technology for their customers. Alfa Laval’s development team has been hard at work, questing every aspect of their designs in search of improvement. The results are bold, including innovative new features and technical concepts that have not been seen before.
The TS45 is the world’s most modern gasket plate heat exchanger. Every inch of its design is intentionally created with flexibility and performance in mind. This means that it is the most versatile of its kind on the market and can benefit virtually any application, especially cooling duties.
These large new plates are packed with innovations to take thermal efficiency to new heights. The first of which is Alfa Laval’s noncircular inlet and outlet OmegaPort. This small design change has significant results. Thanks to an increased thermal surface area it can boost efficiency across the whole plate pack. In some cases, it even means that fewer plates are required per pack without losing out on performance.
Top Three
KENCO Engineering has been recognized as a key supplier of instrumentation for various industries, including oil and gas, petrochemical, power, pulp and paper, water and waste treatment. Kenco enjoys worldwide recognition and leadership with its line of Liquid Level Gauges, which are used as visual measurement devices in various tank gauging applications. Kenco’s Oil Level Controllers are the standard device worldwide for measuring and controlling the amount of lube oil consumed in stationary engines and compressors.
Oil Level Controllers
Safety and control devices include the Model KLCM, an electric switch in a CSA approved Class III, Type 4 enclosure. The float switch monitors the oil in the crankcase. The level in the crankcase directly corresponds with the oil level in the oil level controller housing. If the oil level in the crankcase drops 3/4” past the centerline, the switch will trip sending an alarm.

Meet and get to know a little bit more about a valued member of our team:

Tim Berschauer – Vice President
As Vice President, Tim’s job responsibilities include managing outside sales territories and servicing municipal and industrial customers, contractors, and consulting engineers in Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.
Tim provides application engineering and system design assistance, preparing proposals, budgetary estimates, and reviewing material contracts. He is also responsible for troubleshooting and commissioning equipment. Additionally, Tim offers technical expertise and support to CPC teammates across all territories, which includes joining sales calls and presenting to clients.
Tim prefers a “consultative” approach to sales that is centered on educating his customers on the pros and cons of the various options available to fill their applications and thereby empowering them to make their own informed decisions.
Tim has been actively engaged in outside sales, application engineering, and service for the municipal water and wastewater treatment markets since 1994, when he began his tenure with the Charles P. Crowley Company (CPC). Tim has a deep focus on serving the needs of municipal and industrial customers, providing technical support and engineering solutions. In 2021, he was promoted to Vice President. Before joining CPC, Tim obtained a General Contractor’s License and completed numerous design and build projects. His experience in municipal water/wastewater projects has been instrumental in his career at CPC.
Fun Fact: Tim loves all things water. Not only has he made it a significant part of his career, but he grew up boating & water skiing, loves the beach, and even the frozen version (snow)!
