On the Lookout

An important part of the job at CPC Co. is keeping an eye out. Whether connecting with customers to anticipate changes, challenges and needs, or staying on top of the best engineered equipment products and solutions, we’re always on the lookout for ways to serve you better. That’s why we’re looking forward to taking part in AWWA‘s annual conference and expo, ACE24, June 10-13 in Anaheim. Over 10,000 water professionals from around the country, and around the world, are expected to attend, and water issues and innovations in Southern California and Nevada will be front and center. If you’ll be attending, come by and see us at booth #1422.

Gazing upon this month’s Chatter, we’ve spotted a solution to issues commonly experienced with larger vertical turbine pump systems. Next, we get an eyeful of how the heat (efficiency) has been turned up on the latest industrial plate heat exchangers.  Our last observation is three attributes that separate one brand of field equipment enclosures from all the rest.

Time to peruse the Chatter …

Manufacturer of the Month

ITT GOULDS PUMPS is widely recognized as the premier supplier of quality industrial process pumps. With a proud history spanning 175 years of designing and manufacturing the world’s most reliable centrifugal pumping solutions, Goulds Pumps continues to deliver and build upon its legacy as a leader in the process industries.

Goulds Pumps offers an expansive and world class portfolio of highly efficient vertical turbine pumps for the municipal water and wastewater industries with flow rates reaching up to 400,000 GPM (576 MGD) and factory test capabilities to 8,000 HP. Each pump is custom engineered to meet the specific customer and application requirements. NSF-61 certified pumps are available as an option.

They have also devised an innovative solution to solve commonly encountered issues with larger vertical turbine pump systems. Their unique “O-Head” discharge head technology offers a far superior approach to accommodating high levels of discharge pipe stresses while minimizing deflection at critical areas of the pump. The resultant design completely minimizes pump vibration risk and improves overall life of the pumping system.

The O-Head can be designed to accommodate above two times Hydraulic Institute flange loads and still limit displacement at the seal housing and motor support to less than 0.003”. With each O-Head offering ease of maintenance with 360 deg seal accessibility, Goulds Pumps can also retrofit any of your vertical pumps with excessive vibration to solve your operating problems!

If you expect the highest level of process pump reliability and efficiency, partner with the class leader with the history to back it up.

The Cutting Edge

ALFA LAVAL has raised the bar once again when it comes to producing reliable, serviceable, and energy efficient heat exchanger technology for their customers. Alfa Laval’s development team has been hard at work, questing every aspect of their designs in search of improvement. The results are bold, including innovative new features and technical concepts that have not been seen before.

The TS45 is the world’s most modern gasket plate heat exchanger. Every inch of its design is intentionally created with flexibility and performance in mind. This means that it is the most versatile of its kind on the market and can benefit virtually any application, especially cooling duties.

These large new plates are packed with innovations to take thermal efficiency to new heights. The first of which is Alfa Laval’s noncircular inlet and outlet OmegaPort. This small design change has significant results. Thanks to an increased thermal surface area it can boost efficiency across the whole plate pack. In some cases, it even means that fewer plates are required per pack without losing out on performance.

With the TS45, Alfa Laval sets a new standard for thermal efficiency in a plate heat exchanger.

Top Three

SHELTER WORKS sets itself apart by manufacturing protective fiberglass enclosures that not only safeguard critical field equipment but are also custom-engineered to protect vital systems in any temperature and weather condition. Their enclosures often outlast the lifespan of the equipment they protect, making them a unique and durable solution.

Low Maintenance – Say goodbye to routine coatings and inhibitors. Shelter Works designs enclosures to be low maintenance but strong enough to withstand extreme temperatures, severe weather, and corrosive conditions. They resist damage from impact, chemicals, water, and UV rays, resulting in a cost-effective choice.

Corrosion Resistant – They stand up to UV rays, humidity, chemicals, and water without rusting, corroding, or decaying, making them the ideal solution for water and wastewater applications.

25-Year Warranty – Shelter Works firmly believes in the strength and longevity of their shelters, and they back them with an industry-leading 25-year warranty.

Shelter Works offers in-house design, CAD, project management, and logistics services. Their sales engineers work with you throughout the design process to ensure your shelter meets the rigors of the intended application and environment.
